The copula in Turkic languages
The present research program, which is financed by the Royal Swedish
Academy of Letters, History and Antiquities (Kungl. Vitterhetsakademien),
is intended to investigate the diachronic development and synchronic variation
of the copula as a grammatical category across Turkic languages. Since
the use of the copula in Turkic languages, as in many other languages,
is often connected, formally and functionally, with existential and possessive
expressions, the development and variation of these structures will also
be examined.
